Bee Business Master

Kia Ora

We are learning to find key information to help summarise and compare.

For this week’s reading we had to learn about bees and how they can become a business. This week’s reading was all about these people creating a business at their school and the business was selling honey. They wanted to start this business because not only will they make money but also they can have honey for their toast or toppings for food. I liked learning about it because I thought making honey was very easy because all you have to do is collect honey and you are protected from the suit. I learned that you cannot sell honey unless you have a professional taste test for your honey. If your honey is good that is when you can move on and sell honey. Lastly the reason I liked this reading is because I got to learn the different type of bees and what each type does. I always thought that the only bees that make honey are honey bees but there are many types of species of bees that help create honey.

Have you ever done bee keeping?

Fair Chocolate Master

Kia Ora

We are learning to find out why fair trade is better for business.

For this week’s reading we were working on a story all about chocolate. This story is all about fair trade business and why it is better. I liked doing this work because not that many people know about fair trade including me. So learning about fair trade was very interesting. Fair trade is better because they have lots of product such as food, clothes, crops, and many other things. I also liked working about fair trade because fair trade is much better because the people working behind the products can get paid fairly for the work they put into the products. Lastly fair trade is good because the products they sell are man made which means a human made it better for the environment and people.

Have you ever worked on fair trade?

Reducing Our Footprint

Kia Ora

We are learning to find ways to reduce our footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.

For this week’s reading we had to learn about reducing our footprint. Our footprint is caused by electric vehicles and factories. I liked working on this because I got to find out what caused greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gas emissions are very bad because greenhouse gas is like a shield which means that it traps all of the gases and heat inside earth.  Also there are many things making this situation worse because there are many vehicles that are getting turned into electric which is worse for the earth. Lastly we had to do a slide which you have to put in your own words what Aotearoa thinks of nuclear weapons. We all stand against it as they can cause many trouble to our country and people.

What do you know about reducing our footprint?

Plastic Free Environment

Kia Ora

We are learning how to properly sort out your rubbish.

For this week’s reading we were learning about the updates about the recycling bins in New Zealand, as well as what’s happening with the Pacific garbage patch. I liked learning about this because I got to learn what the council has changed about the recycling bin. I also liked working about this because I got to learn about what is happening with the Pacific garbage patch as it is growing and growing. The cool thing but also sad thing that I learned about the pacific garbage patch is that the garbage patch is 3x the size of New Zealand. So it is very big and most of the rubbish is under the water affecting the sea life.
Do you know about the garbage patch?

Bugbix

We are learning to see the benefits of eating insects/bugs.

For this week’s reading task we were learning about bugs and how they can help us when we eat them. This week my group and I were learning about bugs because little did you know there are many countries that eat insects/bugs for breakfast,  lunch and dinner. For many countries insects/bugs are delicious to them and also the fact that there are many benefits of eating insects. They eat bugs because there are many health benefits and also the fact that you are helping the environment by eating because insects are always eating your crops, and food. How can bugs help with your health? insects can help because in bugs there are lots of protein and vitamins and also a type of acid in the bug that can help burn fat and calories

Have you ever eaten bugs?

Little Red Riding Hood

Kia Ora

We are learning how to write a different end to an alternate version of a known story.

For this weeks reading/writing we had to do a story ending. What that means is that we were given a starting sentence from a story then had to end the story with your own creativity. For this weeks story we had to read a story that everyone knows. The story is called little red riding hood but the only twist in this story is that instead of a big bad wolf being the bad guy the bad guy is a big bad girl and the main character is a little red riding wolf. This story is basically the same as the original but instead it is based off the perspective of the little red riding wolf so instead of the normal grandma the grandma in this story is a wolf. For this story I tried to stick with the original story just by adding a few more characters and there wasn’t a duplicate of the grandma this time. What I mean is that in the original story when the little red riding wolf gets to grandmas house her grandma was not actually the wolfs grandma but instead the big bad girl trying to pretend to be the grandma.

Have you ever read little red riding wolf?

Talking To The River

Kia Ora

We are learning to see how the RiverWatch monitor helps the earth and water.

For this week’s reading task we had to do the weekly reading task we got to pick out our own book and had to research about the book. This week we picked a book about what this man created to help with the water. I liked this week’s reading because for this week’s reading we learned about this man who had a very smart idea. His idea was a little machine that went into the water and filtered and cleaned the water but not only that inside the little device there was a WiFi transmitter so when this little device is helping the water you can still go online using this little device.

King And Country

Kia Ora

We are learning to see what happened in the olden days and also how the Maori King grew up.

For this week’s reading slides we had to pick our own book. The book we had chosen was called King and Country and what the book was about was the war and also the Maori King. I really liked this book because it showed you lots of stuff to do with the  olden days because in some photos in the book it was showing photos of  how they did things back in the day. It  was really fascinating because it showed pictures of the Maori king and also how they had a tradition of playing a rugby game where it was Maori vs Pakeha.  Also this is really cool because it showed the olden days and the type of rugby balls they used.

This is my recording on what paragraph relates to the two photos.

Have you ever read King and Country?

Maze Runner (Week 7 )

Kia Ora

We are learning to figure out what is happening in maze runner and also work on extra word lab assignments based on maze runners.

For this week’s maze runner sets, We had to do only two sets out of three since the word lab wasn’t ready this week. I liked this week’s maze runner sets because all we had to do was two sets which made it easier. I finished the novel study because the maze runner book our class in on chapter 28 which means that we are supposed to be finishing our last slide of the novel study.

For the first set of maze runner I had to do the weekly novel study. The novel study has been interesting for these past few weeks because many things have happened in chapters 24 to 28 because Thomas left the glade and also saved Alby while Minho was running away. I really liked doing this week’s novel study because it just changed the topic to the “girl” who appeared to the glade with a note saying “Shes the last one ever”.

For the last set I had to do the weekly ponder. This week’s ponder was about Thomas testing something. What he was testing was the griever stinger because what he found about everyone who had been stung remembered their old life because Alby was stung but was luckily saved because of the serum.  He remembered everything so Thomas stung himself because he wanted to test if he would remember his old life and how he got to the glade.

For The Land (Rongoa)

Kia Ora

We are learning to see what types of trees are in New Zealand.

For this weeks reading slides we had to pick our own book for us to research and also read. We wanted to pick a good option but also we all wanted the book to be based on real life because our last book was based off what they did in Samoa and how they tattooed. After reading that book we wanted to read another like that so this week we picked a book talking about New Zealand nature and also the nature in New Zealand. I really liked this because I only knew one native tree and that is called a Pohutukawa, So learning about New Zealand native trees is very cool. Another thing I liked about this is that it told us what kind of useful weapons and materials you can make with these trees.

Have you ever made something out of nature?
