Puffer Fish

Kia Ora

We are learning to continue our learning journey by participating in the Summer Learning Journey.

For this week’s cyber smart we have been working on the summer learning journey. For this week’s summer learning journey we had to start the second assignment for the summer learning journey. This week we had to do a  kick start assignment. We had to create a Japanese puffer fish. I liked doing this because I got to interact with the drawing by creating my own puffer fish and design. This was very cool because I got to make it on Google drawing and all I had to use was the curve line. This was a big inspiration because in Japan they eat these and make art out of Japanese puffer fish because they are very pretty and have different patterns.

Have you ever made a puffer fish?

Word Search

Kia Ora

We are learning to continue our learning journey through SLJ.

For this week’s summer learning journey we were working on the new tasks that have been posted. This week’s task was about creating a word search. The reason I liked doing this week’s work was because it was not only fun to create but also very challenging because once I finished it I tested it for myself to see if it was challenging. I also liked doing this work because this is the first work that gives you points for posting and completing the work so having this as the first project gives a good start making all the other work sound fun and easy. This was fun to create because you can have any topic you want and you can create a word search that is challenging but also fun because you created it.

Have you ever created a word search?

The Promise

Kia Ora

We are learning to understand different instructions and make the best choice for following through.

For this week’s reading we had to do two stories based on life or death situations. The first story was about a couple teenagers that were stuck in a bunker because there was a explosion causing radiation in the air. The point of that story was that they were going to open the bunker as a life or death situation not knowing if there is still radiation in the air. For the second story we had to read a story that was about a family and they had to put down the chicken. The chicken was on the brink of death and they had to put it down so he would stop suffering. In the end they all agreed to put down the chicken even though they all loved her. I liked doing this week’s slide because these two stories are based on your perspective and the way you look at it. Also the fact that many people will relate to this because if you or other people had to put their pet down it will take a lot of confidence to agree to go with it.
Have you ever read one of these stories before?

Wanted Stonefish – SLJ

Kia Ora

We are learning to continue our learning journey by participating in the Summer Learning Journey.

This week we have started as a class to do some of the summer learning journey work. What the summer learning journey is about is that it is all about continuing your work throughout the long six weeks holiday and once the holidays are over you will have the chance of getting prizes once you get back to school. Summer learning journeys are fun because most of the work is not really anything hard but it is to just keep jogging your memory and making sure you do not forget that knowledge. What we had to do for the first summer learning journey assignment was all about making a poster about a wanted stone fish. Stone fish is a type of venomous creature that once you have stepped on the spines of the sharp spine it will release a bunch of poison and toxin into your body causing serious harm or death. I liked doing this because this is telling me that the summer learning journey isn’t all about homework but also about having fun with your work while learning. The good thing about this is that you are doing work all for a prize and the work is all about fun and the next year you are getting prizes that can variate from technology to school supplies

Do you know anything about stone fish?

KPMG Gift Giving

Kia Ora

We are learning to appreciate what we have, As well as being thankful towards KPMG

This week Edmund Hillary School got the honour of KPMG coming back to Edmund Hillary School. Whenever KPMG comes to school we all know its going to be something good because this year KPMG has only come to give us Easter eggs and to help out with our Whanau day. This time they came to Edmund Hillary School for two good reasons because the first reason they came was to hand over the scholarships to the selected people. The second main reason they came was for gift giving. Every year they come and give us gifts where we all have a budget and had to pick a present within that budget. For my present I didn’t want anything too serious so all I asked for was a rugby ball.

Have you ever done anything with KPMG?

Term 4 Kiwi can

Kia Ora

We are learning valuable life lessons and helpful information from Kiwi can

For this terms Kiwi can learn many useful things. Kiwi can be a group of people where they go to a certain amount of schools and they do activities and teach the students life lessons so they can keep it as a habit. I liked Kiwi can this term because they have taught me many life lessons that have really helped me. Also the fact that they got to take us out of class and make us do activities and energisers was really cool. Lastly I really liked Kiwi can because the activities they have taught us is really fun because some of the activities can be an outside activity and some can be just drawing and expressing yourself.

Papyrus A.I

Kia Ora

We are learning to use papyrus to give us suggestions and recommendations for our writing.

For this week’s writing we have been using A.I to give us suggestions on how to make our story more interesting and also more detailed. We had two sessions using papyrus A.I the first session was with Naomi where we used the A.I to help us with our narrative writing. Papyrus was very helpful because it is a A.I which doesn’t just give you a whole paragraph but instead tips to help build up that paragraph. The second time we used papyrus A.I was when we wanted to see what kind of suggestions it would give us for our argument writing. Our argument writing was about why we should have a 4 day weekend which means we would get a three day weekend. We asked the A.I to help fix our starting statement and it gave all of us many helpful tips and also extra tips on why we should have a 4 day week.

Here is a little conversation of the A.I

Have you ever used Papyrus A.I?

Bee Business Master

Kia Ora

We are learning to find key information to help summarise and compare.

For this week’s reading we had to learn about bees and how they can become a business. This week’s reading was all about these people creating a business at their school and the business was selling honey. They wanted to start this business because not only will they make money but also they can have honey for their toast or toppings for food. I liked learning about it because I thought making honey was very easy because all you have to do is collect honey and you are protected from the suit. I learned that you cannot sell honey unless you have a professional taste test for your honey. If your honey is good that is when you can move on and sell honey. Lastly the reason I liked this reading is because I got to learn the different type of bees and what each type does. I always thought that the only bees that make honey are honey bees but there are many types of species of bees that help create honey.

Have you ever done bee keeping?

Fair Chocolate Master

Kia Ora

We are learning to find out why fair trade is better for business.

For this week’s reading we were working on a story all about chocolate. This story is all about fair trade business and why it is better. I liked doing this work because not that many people know about fair trade including me. So learning about fair trade was very interesting. Fair trade is better because they have lots of product such as food, clothes, crops, and many other things. I also liked working about fair trade because fair trade is much better because the people working behind the products can get paid fairly for the work they put into the products. Lastly fair trade is good because the products they sell are man made which means a human made it better for the environment and people.

Have you ever worked on fair trade?

Market Day (Game)

Kia Ora

We are learning to apply what we have been learning in financial literacy.

For this week’s math we have been learning about financial literacy. This week was all about a girl named Anna who was selling items at this market Day and you had to work out the income on sales and also the income/expenditure statement. I liked doing this type of math because after you finished the work they gave you a little board game. It was very fun because it was all about math and even though you are playing a game you still had to figure out the percentage of a certain number. Such as the juggling balls in the game there is something called a market option and there will be a market thing saying “sell juggling balls for 10% off” juggling balls are $12 so you just have to find out 10% of $12.

Have you ever played this game before?
